Paresh Shah, DMD, MS, FAGD maintains a private practice in Winnipeg, Canada with a focus on implant, cosmetic and interdisciplinary care. He graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1991 and completed a hospital residency in 1992. Dr. Shah recently received a proficiency certificate in Esthetic Dentistry at the University of Buffalo (SUNY) in 2007. He has completed levels I and II of the Postgraduate Program in Esthetic Dentistry at the University of Minnesota and has been a clinical mentor for the same program since 2002. Dr. Shah is also a part time instructor at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Dentistry. Dr. Shah has fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry, Academy of Dentistry International, International Academy of Dento-Facial Esthetics, Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International congress of Oral Implantology. Dr. Shah is a founding board member of the Canadian Academy for Esthetic Dentistry (CAED) and a member of the Council for Innovative Dentistry (3M ESPE). He also serves as a consultant for several dental manufacturers.

Contemporary Esthetics and Restorative Dentistry (multi-day lecture/workshops)

Today dentists are challenged with and an increased complexity in esthetic dentistry demands. Furthermore, dentists are faced with an ever-changing selection of materials, procedures and requests from patients. At the heart of all this is what is most ideal for your patients. This lecture will review practical and new options for treating many of the challenges we encounter in everyday practice. Participants will be exposed to various contemporary restorative materials and have the opportunity to work with them in a hands-on workshop. You will also learn practical techniques to simplify the restoration of your cases and be able to implement many of these immediately.
This lecture & workshop may be customized for 1 or 2 full-day formats depending on the group’s requirements.

Learning objectives:

  • Learn to evaluate various direct & provisional restorative materials so as to select the most appropriate for each situation
  • Learn practical restorative techniques to simplify the restoration of your cases and implement immediately
  • Learn practical layering techniques to make your anterior restorations more natural looking
  • Learn techniques to reproduce natural contours for your posterior restorations
  • Learn techniques to create proper contact areas and embrasures
  • Learn techniques to improve the outcome and esthetics of your indirect restorations on natural teeth or implants
  • Participants will perform various procedures in a workshop setting on dentoforms using a variety of restorative materials.

Functional Esthetics & Full Mouth Smile Reconstruction in the General Practice – Simplified, Predictable and Staged for Convenience
Today dentists are challenged with and an increased complexity in esthetic dentistry demands. We are faced with an ever-changing selection of materials, procedures and requests from patients. At the heart of all this is what is most ideal for our patients. Furthermore, with our aging demographic more people present with esthetic, functional and occlusal problems that require extensive treatment. Quite often, finances or provider inexperience limit appropriate care. This lecture will update modern restorative techniques and materials. We will also provide guidelines and tips on incorporating full mouth treatment into your practice in stages, allowing more of your patients to be able to accept comprehensive care.

Proper utilization of composite resin systems can provide wonderful solutions to recreate the beauty of a natural dentition. This lecture and hands-on workshop will present simple and predictable tips to achieve consistent esthetic results utilizing current materials and technologies with direct composites.

  • Learn to evaluate various direct composite materials so as to select the most appropriate for each situation
  • Learn practical layering techniques to make your anterior direct restorations more natural looking
  • Learn techniques to reproduce natural contours for your anterior restorations
  • Learn techniques to create proper contact areas and embrasures
  • Learn basic principles of shade and color matching
  • Learn useful direct composite techniques to be able to implement into practice immediately
