Indirect Success: Understanding Materials and Technologies
Dentists, dental assistants and lab technicians alike can form a partnership in esthetic treatments. Every team member’s knowledge of materials and material usage is essential for long-term success of restorations. Each person should understand that the clinical decision as to which restorative material to place is complex, involving factors relating to the tooth, the patient, the clinician, and the properties of the restorative materials. Every procedure from the first impression to the final placement is critical.
Dr. Perry will use an evidence-based approach to discussing how impressions, bite registrations, provisionals and restorative material selection can affect the long-term success of indirect restorations. He will give technique tips and discuss how to select the appropriate combination of materials. He will suggest ways to educate and empower your dental assistants to become a vital part of the clinical team. Dr. Perry will discuss communication strategies that will eliminate frustration when dealing with your dental labs.
A Day In The Life of a High-Tech Practice
What is high technology? How do I integrate it into my practice? What is the paperless office?
Do I need all the “toys”, or can I integrate individual components? This highly interactive presentation will answer all these questions and more. It will provide an overview of current technologies available to the dental professional, as well as a breakdown of each component’s advantages and disadvantages. Emphasis will be placed on actual integration, not technical jargon, so as to give participants a better understanding and grasp of the technologies available.
Technology can be overwhelming and frustrating at times. This course will help alleviate your frustration and simplify--not complicate--your day-to-day practice functions. An interactive question and answer session with Dr. Perry will allow you to address specific issues of concern to your office. Like it or not, technology is now a part of everyday life. Embrace it! It can work to your advantage.
Composite Success: A Hands-On Workshop
Bonding and the clinical performance of direct adhesive restorative materials has improved increasingly over the last 5 years. The dentist should be able to count on clinical success as long as treatment planning, product selection and operator techniques are accurate. Function and esthetics make happy patients and successful dentistry; preventing post-operative sensitivity is a goal of all practitioners.
It is important to understand “how, when and why” when selecting materials. Dr. Perry will combine the relevant points in materials science and clinical casework to educate attendees on the following:
Understanding of adhesion and its function in modern-day dentistry
• Proper selection of composite materials and bonding agents
• Research and clinical evidence supporting manufacturer claims
• Placement tips and techniques to avoid post-operative sensitivity
The hands-on portion will consist of:
• Anterior composites and materials selection
• Using appropriate bonding agents
• Layering composite material
ESTHETICS: INSIDE AND OUT
A Team Approach to Esthetic Dentistry
Esthetics and cosmetics are things that we all worry about in one way, shape or form. Inside and outside of the body, we strive to achieve our own form of beauty. As dental practitioners, we project that same concern to dentition. We worry about form and beauty both inside and outside of teeth and gums. We understand how the smile affects the personal feelings of attractiveness. We understand the role of healthy hard and soft tissues in the overall wellbeing of our patients. From the very beginning of the treatment plan to the final restorations, we are compelled to take the steps necessary to help our patients achieve that goal of inner and outer beauty.
From bleaching to direct and indirect restorations, dentists, dental assistants and lab technicians alike can form a partnership in esthetic treatments. Every team member’s knowledge of materials and material usage is essential for long-term success of restorations. What procedure is the best? What materials should be used? How does each partner help to combine esthetics with form and function? How does the dental team get the treatment right the first time? Dr. Perry will discuss problem solving and diagnosis and give clinical tips, equipment and materials information for esthetic direct and indirect restorations, bleaching, and other treatments that help to achieve everyone’s ultimate goal of beauty inside and out.
